Understanding where we came from to define our purpose
Once upon a time – Our history to now
Phoenix Watersports formed in 2023, when 2 highly renowned dive centres, Duttons Divers & Palaemon divers merged their resources together. A business move to create a dive location offering…well, everything that you could think of as a diver!
Our purpose and what we aim to achieve is simple:
- Deliver high quality training & activities.
- Protecting the environment through our conservation activities.
- Making our services open to all, and creating a safe and friendly atmosphere enjoy.
- Maintaining the highest standards in respect of kit, during dive projects & all other services.
Joining together to create the ultimate dive location
Duttons Divers
Clare completed the instructor course in 2015, purchased 5 sets of kit and a trailer, and travelled around teaching!
Palaemon Divers
Leanne completed her Assistant Instructor course and started a scuba diving centre based on Liverpool Docks.
Vivian Quarry & Professional courses
Duttons Divers found a permanent location in North Wales, at Vivian Quarry. Being able to offer training course at a private quarry location. Clare completed the Course Director programe within this year, now offering instructor training.
Warrington Dive Centre
Palaemon opened up a second location in Warrington offering air & nitrox fills, as well as servicing & kit sales.
Little Viv & Guided Shore dives
With North Wales & Anglesey being a prime diving location, We purchased Little Viv, our 7.8m boat and began to offer guided shore & boat trips to showcase the beautiful coastline.
Locations @ Lymm & Speke
Pool locations at Lymm and Speke were found to offer training in these locations and expand. Both locations have a kids club with 20 scuba explorers!
RYA Powerboat Centre & Conservation Project
We expanded our training capabilities, becoming an RYA Powerboat centre to offer basic & advanced training, as well as VHF. Our first structured conservation project was formed which has now successfully offered programmes , beach cleans & debris dives for the past 4 years.
Tech Division
Palaemon employed a full time tech instructor, to offer Extended range courses.
Anglesey Dive Centre
We opened up a location on Anglesey, offering a base for our shore and boat dives in the area, as well as air & nitrox fills, servicing & a retail shop.
Mermaiding
Since mermaiding became popular we wanted to be able to offer it to you, with our own mermaid & merman available at Lymm & Speke pool.
SSI Partner
We partnered with a more innovative & supportive training agency, offering high quality materials and more focussed individual student training .
Duttons & Palaemon Merged
Both centres merged together, meaning that we were able to offer all things scuba, with a bigger team & awesome all round facilities.
Phoenix Watersports was born
Once merged the new business was formed and ready to operate!
SSI Instructor Trainer
Clare & Leanne completed the intense and prestigious Instructor trainer course to be able to offer all levels of professional training.
SSI Classified Diver
We became a Classified training facility, offering scuba to… everyone! A main focus for the season, giving scuba opportunities to all.
